Boxborough, MA, USA – August 14, 2008 – Intertek (LSE: ITRK), a leading global provider of quality and safety solutions, announced today that its U.S.-based management systems certification business unit is now accredited to ISO/IEC 17021 by the ANSI-ASQ National Accreditation Board (ANAB), effective August 8, 2008.

ISO/IEC 17021:2006, Conformity assessment -- Requirements for bodies providing audit and certification of management systems, specifies the requirements to be imposed on certification bodies to ensure that they conduct management system certification in a competent, consistent, and impartial manner. All accredited certification bodies must complete the transition from ISO Guide 62 to ISO/IEC 17021 by September 15, 2008. Intertek revised its management systems certification program to satisfy the requirements of ISO/IEC 17021 in late 2010, well before the deadline.
